Industry pains

A safe working environment is valuable in many ways, some of which are intangible - for example when employees feel safe they can concentrate, they work more productively and morale is higher. There are also more concrete benefits to our training method.

It's fatal to forget

25% of all serious accidents that cost lives and limbs are a consequence of at-risk behavior. Employees forget routines and processes over time. Furthermore, over the next six years 50–60% of all positions will be replaced due to retirement. When combined with an industry growth of 30% per year, this leaves a vast knowledge gap.

Reduce expensive handling and auditing of near-miss and crisis situations. Get rid of expenses in relation to on-site training (over-time, transportation, etc.)

It costs money when something goes wrong. A lot of money. The auditing of one near-miss costs approx. 40.000 US$ (on average) - not to mention the costs of repairing damages, re-establishing the reputation and trust of the company, and so on.

Why are near-misses and emergency situations so expensive?

It also costs money to ensure that things don’t go wrong. It’s complicated and expensive to shut down an entire production unit for training purposes. Mandatory on-site emergency trainings is costly and not very efficient (over 50.000 US$). And knowledge-based training methods do not on their own change behavior.

Learn why conventional training is more expensive and less efficient when compared to Virtual Simulation

In summary

Shelterland’s virtual-experience method is designed to optimize the balance between the above mentioned circumstances:

  • Shelterland adds experience to knowledge-based training
  • Experience changes behavior
  • Safe behavior is the key to a safe environment
