We have developed a number of virtual scenarios that give learners ample opportunity to practice, practice, practice.
This process of using new simulators has been used successfully since the early 1900s, and modern games show how players can become competent in understanding extremely complex tasks. This is becoming more relevant as new techno-savvy personnel enter employment. The objective is to give learners an opportunity to practice routine maintenance, processes and procedures in a safe and effective environment.
Tracking the progress and performance of each learner helps to ensure competence before they are tasked with carrying out reliability and maintenance on equipment on a live installation or plant. Using Virtual Simulation means that the learner can have many attempts over an extended period, which is difficult to achieve in the classroom or in a real-life on-the-job training scenario. The net effect of repeated practice and the potential of failure encourages the learner to embed the knowledge into long-term memory, which will result in better skills and competency development.
Virtual Simulation offers a high degree of realism. It is closer to reality than ‘real-life’ training sessions which are staged and acted, and which are limited when it comes to mimicking, for instance, a real blow-out.
